Suited In Separates

[Shirt] Dsquared2 'Villian' [Blazer] Zara [Tie] Olymp [Pocket Square] Brunello Cucinelli
[Shoes] H.E. by Mango [Sunglasses] Dior [Portfolio] Bottega Veneta

I love suits and wear them often, but if I had to choose between suits and suit separates the answer would be easy. Wearing suit separates is my go to look. For this outfit I took the trousers from one suit and the jacket from another. In my opinion there is something more original to an outfit that is made from odd pieces. You can play around with color or even mix patterns such as what I did today with the trousers. A denim shirt and a really loud brightly printed tie make this outfit casual enough to wear on your days off. As you can see I went sockless today with a pair of loafers. I later regretted that when my ankles started to freeze, but a stop in my favorite cafe warmed me right up. I also wore an overcoat (not pictured). If you're interested in the coat I wore then please visit my post from earlier this month called The Double Breasted Overcoat

I would love to know what you think of this look. Thanks for reading

Goodbye Christmas 2014

[Shirt] Karl Lagerfeld [Blazer] Zara [Trousers] Theory [Tie] Jack Spade
[Shoes] Boss Orange [Sunglasses] Dior Homme

Christmas sales, beautiful lights, festive clothing and large family feasts are all over. We will have to wait another eleven months for this magical time to return. Taking down the tree and packing away the decorations may be a sad time but we can also look back at the past few days to bring smiles to our faces. My Christmas day outfit was a fun way for me to bring the holiday spirit into my look while at the same time sticking to traditional tailored items. I just love this tie and based off of the endless attention it got I’m assuming others enjoyed it as well. The Jack Spade tie is printed with little sharks wearing Santa Claus hats. Yes I know it’s a novelty tie but maybe it’s ok for one day out of the year? To bring a little more Christmas spirit to my look, I wore red socks along with black velvet slippers. Blue trousers and a houndstooth blazer finished the look. What do you think of this outfit? I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas! I guess now it’s time to start preparing for new years. Have a great weekend.

A Creamy White Christmas

[Sport Coat] Manuel Ritz [Sweater] Burberry [Jeans] Maison Martin Margiela [Scarf] Saint Laurent Paris
[Shoes] Ask The Missus [Sunglasses] Marc Jacobs

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY ON INSTAGRAM!

Todays look is the third and final outfit of my pre Christmas look book. At first glimpse this neutral toned outfit may not seem very holiday like, but I happen to believe it’s a great look for Christmas or any other day in winter  The holidays are a time when we try extra hard to be kind and generous. We are often attending parties or welcoming people into our home as guests. By wearing very neutral colors you will give the appearance that you're an easy going person. This outfit is so relaxing to the eyes that your guests will feel very much at home and not worry about dropping a crumb or laughing a little too loud. I opted for a pair of blue monk straps instead of brown because I didn’t want to blend into the background. What’s your opinion on an outfit that's built around only one color or should I say no color? I hope you enjoy the look and have a great day!

Festive Attire

[Shirt] Burberry [Cardigan] Club Monaco [Trousers] Gant [Bag] Brics Milano [Glasses] Tods

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY ON INSTAGRAM!

There comes a time every year when we meet our family or friends to sit down and enjoy a holiday meal together. There will most certainly be those family members who try to bring a little fun to the dinner party by wearing illuminated sweaters or the very common reindeer horn head piece. Sure it may be cute but in all honestly it doesn’t look good. As style conscious men we want to look well put together but at the same time not seem too uptight. My outfit here is an example of a perfect Christmas outfit. It has all the colors that are associated with Christmas but doesn’t seem too tacky or costume like. By switching out a blazer for a more comfortable cardigan it gives a very welcoming and homey feeling. I know the holidays can be stressful, especially when you are hosting a party. I think it’s important to try to eliminate some of that stress by caring for yourself. Wear something that makes you happy and be comfortable. Whether that be something similar to my outfit, a more formal suit or even that shiny reindeer sweater. The holidays are about relaxing and being happy so take a moment to enjoy it.

Holiday Traveling In Style

[Blazer] Neill Katter [Shirt] Scotch & Soda [Tie] Levi's [Trousers] Moschino
[Shoes] Tiger of Sweden [Luggage] Brics Milano

So your heading home for the holidays or maybe taking a trip out of the city for a week. Don’t be one of those people running through the airport in sweats and a T. The clothing you wear at the airport and in the airplane is just as important as the clothing you pack in your suitcase. My outfit may not seem very festive but it's my first of three holiday inspired outfits that will be featured on my blog. For this one I wore a distressed grey blazer. Think of it as a conversation piece, similar to that ugly christmas sweater that we all have. This blazer also fits perfectly with the hobo chic trend going on. My tie  brings a little color and holiday cheerfulness to the outfit but also is conservative enough for your offices annual Christmas party. I finished by wearing double monk strap shoes. They are perfect to wear when traveling because they can very easily be slipped on and off when going through airport security. The luggage you bring is equally important. Why put effort into your clothing if you’re lugging around a cheap luggage set from a department store. Invest in high quality luggage such as the one I’m using from Brics. Brics has amazing quality products in a wide range of styles. They have hard cased luggage large enough for a one month trip as well as small weekend bags made from the highest quality of soft leather. I hope you have fun this holiday season!

The Urban Sportsman

[Shirt] Patrizia Pepe [Cardigan] Fred Perry [Blazer] Zara [Cargo Pants] Kenzo [Tie] Bottega Veneta
[Shoes] Calvin Klein [Sunglasses] Marc Jacobs

You can choose to agree or disagree but when I look at this outfit I immediately think of a hunter or outdoor sportsman. These words in no way describe me but it doesn’t mean I can’t dress the part. As you can see I choose to wear cargo pants today because I’m a little oppressed with everything Suit Supply. If you're familiar with Suit Supply then you know that they always have a few cargo pants in their seasonal collections. If you don’t like cargos very much then just switch them and the chukka boots out for a pair of grey trousers and brown loafers. I hope you enjoy the look. Also I'm super excited that I have another great giveaway coming up. If you like camo and Valentino then make sure to check back next week.

Turtles On My Neck

[Suit] Ben Sherman [Sweater] John Smedley [Shoes] Del Toro [Pocket Square] Tiger of Sweden

Turtle necks are still unfortunately thought of as a dated. They peaked in popularity in the 1950’s and 60s with middle and upperclass business men. This can easily be seen by viewing any popular sitcom from that era. They then took a turn for the worst becoming far too oversized and often being associated with something from another decade rather than being a modern essential. However they have made a huge come back in recent years. When wearing a turtleneck in current times I suggest opting for a thin and lightweight version and start layering over it. You can add a cardigan and go for the double knitwear look or throw on a casual blazer for a smart but casual look. My favorite is to wear one with a suit. It’s so effortless but still makes a stylish statement because it’s something may men are not doing. If you dare, try substituting your shirt and tie for a turtleneck sweater on one of your work days. In my opinion it’s totally safe for the work place. If you’re not really feeling the turtleneck trend, head over to this earlier post of mine where I talked about a few other sweater styles that we should all be sporting this winter. Stay warm and stay dapper.

Earth Tones

[Blazer] Scotch & Soda [Shirt] WE Fashion [Trousers] Corneliani [Loafers] Loake
[Portfolio] Zara [Tie] Olymp [Glasses] Tods

By far my favorite colors for clothing are all colors that can be found in nature. The blue sky, green grass, brown trees and all the beautiful warm colors of the autumn leaves along with grey are the only colors I need. I have so many pieces of clothing in these colors which makes getting dressed in the morning incredibly easy because they all coordinate so well with each other. That’s not to say that I don’t have colorful and playful clothing because I certainly do, but they don’t need to make daily appearances. I believe that just by wearing well fitted clothes you can be the best dressed man walking the streets. Don’t get yourself into trouble by trying too hard and playing around with color too much. I’m only saying this because I was one of those people who would buy any shade of neon pants that I could find. I’ve learned from my mistakes and hopefully by reading this you won’t make the same ones that I did.
Have a great weekend everyone!

The Double Breasted Overcoat

[Coat] Zara [Shirt] Diesel Black Gold [Blazer] Tommy Hilfiger Collection [Jeans] Nudie Jeans
[Tie] Altea Milano [Shoes] Hugo Boss [Eyeglasses] Tods [Scarf] Valentino

Double breasted overcoats are nothing new, as a matter a fact they have an incredibly long history within menswear. But like with all traditional pieces, designers are always looking for ways to modernize and bring new life to often boring pieces.  As you can see the new breed of double breasted outerwear has a very slimming silhouette. It should no longer be thought of as something you wear over your clothing but instead fit seamlessly into your completed look. The great thing about a double breasted overcoat is that it’s extremely warm and adds great protection during your morning commute. If you’re not wearing suits and ties everyday don’t worry. This style can just as easily be worn with cable knit sweaters and your favorite pair of jeans. So now you know why you need a double breasted overcoat but let me help you even more and tell you where you can get this specific one I’m wearing. This Zara fall/winter limited edition coat is great because of it’s unusual color. Yes it’s grey but it’s not the typical charcoal grey that is always being worn by the older generations. It’s a lighter grey wool coat which will definitely make you stand out from all the darker shaded grey and black that is typically worn by men during the winter months. You can pick up this coat for only $300 and we all know that a coat such as this for $300 is a steal. Are you a fan? SHOP IT here
