Pumpkin Orange

[Shirt] Burberry [Sweater] John Partridge [Blazer] Zara [Trousers] Henry Cottons
[Document Holder] Zara [Eyeglasses] Tods

STAYED TUNED FOR A GIVEAWAY FEATURING BOTTEGA VENETA COMING NEXT WEEK!

If said I wore this sweater today because of any reason other than Halloween I would be lying. As a matter of fact this sweater was an impulse purchase because in the store I thought the color so closely resembled pumpkin orange that it had to be worn on Halloween. But with Halloween aside this color really works for any fall day.  Burnt orange, burgundy and mustard yellow are the three colors that come to mind when thinking about Autumn, so a sweater in one of these colors would be a great addition this year. I also wore a dark green blazer and simple light grey trousers. Some would say that pairing two bold colors together such as orange and green is a bit risky, but I feel that both pieces compliment each other nicely because both in dark shades. Well that's enough about my outfit. I hope you all have a fun Halloween and a great weekend. See you next week

The Winter Waistcoat

[Blazer] Karl Lagerfeld [Waistcoat] Ralph Lauren [Shirt] Patrizia Pepe [Bow Tie] Ralph Lauren [Trousers] Maison Martin Margiela [Boots] Bogner [Sunglasses] Karl Lagerfeld

Let me start by saying that I’ve never really been a fan of wearing waistcoats or vests layered under blazers. Whether it be part of a three piece suit or just an odd piece to be worn alone, they all seem unappealing to me. However; this lamb wool waistcoat is really the perfect piece to wear in the fall. It’s so incredibly thick and tight fighting that it’s almost impossible for wind to penetrate through it. Plus it adds some great texture to the outfit which as I mentioned in my previous post, is a great way to look stylish in the colder months. I layered mine under a super casual blue blazer. I like to pair it with more casual pieces to prevent me from looking too stiff and serious. Another great fall piece that I incorporated into todays outfit are these brown brogue boots. Versatility is one of the most important aspects of a wardrobe and these boots are exactly that. Dress them up or dress them down, it doesn’t really matter because you’ll be looking great and will stay warm and dry all day long. I hope you all have a great week.

Brown Meets Black

[Blazer] New England 83 [Shirt] Ralph Lauren [Jeans] Nudie Jeans [Shoes] Hugo Boss [Document Holder] Zara [Sunglasses] Emporio Armani

There’s an old rule that says you should never wear brown and black together in the same outfit. My look today is proof that you absolutely can. I wore a brown tartan blazer with black jeans and all black accessories. It’s not the most classic of looks but it certainly works well together. This wool blazer is extremely thick and kept me warm all through the day. I think the textures from heavier fabrics such as wool and tweed really look great in the colder months. It’s important to play around with colors but if you really want to step up your game then start incorporating different textured fabrics into your looks. It sounds basic and quite honestly it is, but it will make a difference. I hope you enjoyed my look and have a great weekend.

Sweater Styles

With colder weather approaching, many of us are forced to take our sweaters and knits out of storage. I’ve put together four sweater looks, each showcasing a different sweater style. These styles are in my opinion the must haves for this autumn and winter.

[Turtle Neck] Costume National [Crew Neck] Marni [V-Neck] B.D.Baggies [Cable Knit] Tommy Hilfiger

The Turtle Neck- This style has made a huge comeback in the past few years. It can effortlessly be worn alone but I’m a big fan of wearing it with a suit. When doing this it's best to tuck in the sweater which will create a very sleek transition to your trousers. If you're feeling confident, try layering it over a traditional button up shirt. To style this make a bit of the shirt collar stick stick out from the sweater. It can really make a statement if done properly.

The Crew Neck- This is the most classic of all sweater styles. It has unlimited styling options. In my opinion sticking too basic navy, grey and black crew neck sweaters is the best route to take when building your collection. They will all fit seamlessly into your wardrobe. Keep in mind that when wearing a crew neck sweater with a tie, it's important to have a great knot because that will be the only part of the tie showing.

The V-Neck Sweater- It's best worn over a button up shirt and an added tie always smartens the look up a bit. This sweater style comes in an array of fabrics. The one in the photo above is a thick wool sweater so it’s warm enough to be the outer layer on a fall day. However cashmere and cotton v-necks are great to be layered under a blazer or suit. My tip: Don't be the guy showing off his chest with a low cut V-neck. Stay classy and layer up!

The Cable Knit Sweater- Cable knit referes to the texture created during the knitting process. When tightly knitted this makes for an incredibly warm sweater. I suggest sticking to wool for maximum warmth but they are also found in synthetic materials such as acrylic or polyamide. They can be found in the most basic of colors or as pictured above in more playful patterned versions as well. This style is great for casual wear and for those colder days can be layered under a parka or wool overcoat.

Paisley On Denim

[Shirt] Diesel Black Gold [Blazer] Zara [Trousers] Baldessarini [Tie] Profuomo
[Shoes] Tiger of Sweden [Sunglasses] Karl Lagerfeld

Autumn is a great time of the year, with it comes pumpkin spice lattes and halloween treats, but it also has its disadvantages. Getting dressed in the morning can be a hassle. If you wear too much then you will be sweating and if you don’t layer enough then you are likely to be incredibly uncomfortable when the sun starts to set. My opinion is that it’s still too early to bring out the overcoats, so what should we do? The simplest answer is to wear heavier fabrics. I wore a denim shirt from Diesel Black Gold today. Denim is thought of as a four season fabric but the truth it's fairly thick and doesn’t breath very much. So by switching out a blue dress shirt for a denim shirt you will definitely stay warm. Sure its not suitable for a business setting but I’m certain many of you will find this little tip helpful. What are your tricks to stay warm in the fall months?

Making Money Mondays

[Suit] Ben Sherman Tailoring [Shirt] Patrizia Pepe [Tie] Bottega Veneta [Shoes] Loake Shoemakers [Pocket Square] Tiger of Sweden [Portfolio] Zara [Sunglasses] Paul Smith

Mondays are always hectic days filled with never ending phone calls and meetings. The best way to get through it is to dress in a way that will make you feel good. A Prince of Wales suit is the perfect thing to wear. You will be professional but at the same time stand out in the crowd of navy and dark grey suits. If you don’t already have a Prince of Wales suit then I highly suggest adding one to your collection. I wore mine with a white shirt and a beautiful tie from Bottega Veneta.

Casual Friday in Camo

[Shirt] Neill Katter [Trousers] Baldessarini [Sunglasses] Jil Sander [Portfolio] Zara [Shoes] Boss Orange

If you have already seen some of my previous posts then you know that I’m a huge supporter of camo. Todays outfit consists of a slim fitting camo print shirt from Neill Katter. For those of you unfamiliar with Neill Katter, it is an italian brand that does an amazing job bringing unique fabrics and prints to modern tailoring. You can visit their official website and view their new Autumn/Winter collection here. I made sure the shirt was the focal point of this outfit and kept everything else very simple. Grey trousers and black velvet slippers finished the look. Have a great weekend!
