Black Jeans + Burgundy Blazer

[Blazer] Scotch & Soda [Sweater] Burberry [Jeans] Nudie Jeans [Shirt] Dsquared2
[Tie] Olymp [Shoes] Zara [Socks] Baaws Socks

Black denim is a great alternative for charcoal or black dress pants. They are definitely the more casual option but because of their thickness you can easily pair black jeans with thicker sweaters and blazers. Here I’m wearing my go to pair of black jeans from Nudie. This pair is a few years old and is really starting to break in and fade naturally. It’s a look that can’t be replicated with pre-faded and distressed denim. It’s still quite cold where I am, so layering is just as important as it was in the previous few months. I went with a burgundy blazer which in my opinion is the best color to match with your black denim. The contrast of the two colors just works perfectly together. A thick camel sweater and white shirt finished off the look. Hope you enjoy!

The Houndstooth Check Suit

[Shirt] Dsquared2 [Suit] Zara [Tie] Ben Sherman [Sneakers] Adidas [Sunglasses] Trussardi

A bold suit can be one of many things but I’m sure most people would describe one by using the words colorful and loud. A bright red suit is about as bold as you can get but what about for those of us that tend to shy away from color. I’m all about my classic greys and blues but sometimes I need a little more in my life. Sometimes I want to stand out a bit but not in that obnoxious 'red suit’ kind of way. That’s where pattern comes into play. A simple houndstooth check transforms your ordinary grey suit into something special that is quietly begging for attention. Next time you’re looking to stand out try staying away from color and opting for something in a unique pattern. If you ask me, a patterned suit is much more beautiful than any bold colored option out there. Plus how could you possibly say no to a suit as beautiful as this one. Thanks as always for reading!

The Current Best Monk Straps On The Market

We all have our own unique preferences when it comes to shoe styles but the monk strap has been trending for a while

now and has really started to catch on with the masses. When I’m not reaching for my tassel loafers my next choice is

always monks. They add a special touch of class and detail to an outfit that most other shoes simply can’t match. I’m all

about the suede versions because they look amazing with denim but if you’re looking to wear yours with a business suit

then there are some great leather options out there as well. If you haven’t yet got a pair of monk straps in your shoe

arsenal then I’ve put together a list of some of the best ones I could find online. Happy Shopping!

Monks $200 And Under

If you’re new to monk strap world then there’s nothing wrong with testing them out with a less expensive pair. Plenty of

high street fashion brands have been including monks in their newest collections. Check out your local Aldo or even

DSW for some cheeper pairs with all the same details as the luxury pairs. Also try stores like Nordstrom Rack or

T.J. Maxx to find some marked down pieces and always keep your eyes open for holidays sales.

Monks $250 And Over

If you’ve got some extra money to spend then shoes are never a bad thing to invest in. Leather footwear prices can get

ridiculously expensive but if you wear them often and take good care of them then it’s definitely worth it in the end. Try

Suitsupply for some reasonably priced, high quality options or if you’re really ballin head over to John Lobb to get the

best of the best. Church’s and Santoni monk straps are always high up on my list of favorites.

How To Style Dad Jeans Without Looking Like Your Dad

[Blazer] Sisley [Shirt] Club Monaco [Jeans] H&M [Tie] Olymp [Bag] Zara [Shoes] Massimo Dutti

Dad Jeans, you know those light wash jeans that Jerry Seinfeld was famous for wearing. They have the highest rise of any denim out there and can often be found swimming on those people who’s fashion sense is stuck in the 90’s. They are most known for being the one jean that you shouldn’t wear. I can’t argue with the fact that dad jeans are a thing of the past but a slimmer version is definitely something to consider. Because of the notoriously bad reputation that dad jeans have, the whole category of light washed denim is often forgotten about. These days everyone seems to be talking about the versatility of the dark wash. How about we start mixing things up a bit and have a look at the light wash. When worn they create a youthful and relaxed look that is often hard to achieve. Style yours just as you would any other pair of jeans. They can even be worn with a shirt, tie and cool blazer, just keep in mind that the look will always be on the casual side. If you're ready to jump on board the light wash bandwagon then remember fit is so important. A slim fit with a mid rise will definitely not look like your dad's jeans and will have others thinking that light wash denim is not something to ignore.

The Casual Houndstooth Coat

Ahh spring. The weather can be so unpredictable. Last week I thought it was time to put away my winter outerwear but

now here I am back at it again with a heavy coat. This time it’s a single breasted houndstooth piece from Zara. If you

keep up with my posts you’ll know that I’m totally in love with camel overcoats. They just make every outfit so much

better and because of they became my go to coat this winter. I would say others love it just as much as I do because I

saw them everywhere over that past few months. Camel is easy to wear and matches with everything but sometimes a

little pattern is needed. That’s where the houndstooth coat comes in.

[Coat & Blazer] Zara [Sweater] John Smedley [Shirt] Gant [Jeans] The Kooples
[Shoes] H.E. Mango [Scarf] Bottega Venetta [Sunglasses] Trussardi

Houndstooth has a very rich history in menswear dating back to the 1800’s but someone along the

line the pattern started to disappear. Sure bespoke clothiers always have it and you’ll never have a problem finding

houndstooth at any good made to measure shop but it became very difficult to find off the rack. It’s slowly but surely

starting to make it’s way back and it I couldn’t be more happy.  My current houndstooth collection consists of a suit,

a couple of blazers and now this coat that I was lucky enough to find a few weeks back.

I’m definitely no expert when it comes to houndstooth. Actually this is my first year really playing around with it but just

from experimenting and lots of time spent trying it on I’ve come to the conclusion that this black and white houndstooth

coat that you see me wearing looks best with white or cream colored pants. It also tends to look a bit better when worn

casually. Sure there are some other great houndstooth pieces out there that could be pulled off in a business

environment but for the most part I’m reserving this particular coat for my relaxed days. I look forward to continue to

build my houndstooth collection and hopefully share some new spring pieces with you soon. Thanks for reading!

Dressing Up Your Shawl Cardigan

[Watch] Daniel Wellington [Shirt] Dsquared2 [Cardigan] Club Monaco [Vest] WE Fashion
[Pants] Drykorn [Tie] Olymp [Shoes] Massimo Dutti

I’ve talked about knit blazers and cardigans before and over the last few months I’ve found them to be incredibly versatile. They can be layered under a blazer for an extra layer of warmth or worn on their own for casual days. Last fall I actually wore this same shawl cardigan with a t-shirt and white sneakers, making what I think is a classic weekend look. Now I want to share with you how the same piece can be used in place of a blazer. Create the base as you would with any outfit by choosing your trousers, shirt, tie and waistcoat if you so desire. Then instead of going with a blazer just choose a shawl cardigan. I find it best to wear wool trousers or something with a bit of a texture. After all this look is intended for chillier weather so thicker fabrics are always the better choice. When it comes to color you can pretty much wear anything. Shawl cardigans are coming in tons of colors these days and if you wear grey or blue pants then almost any color will work. So what are your thoughts on the shawl cardigan? Thanks for reading!

The Bold Paisley Tie

[Tie] Bows-N-Ties [Blazer] Karl Lagerfeld [Trousers & Shirt] Zara [Watch] Daniel Wellington

A good fitting blue blazer and white trousers are really all you need to look good. I know there are trends constantly coming and going but if you stick to the basics then you’ll never have to worry about looking bad. However some people say a simple outfit made from a solid blazer, shirt and trousers is too “safe”. The word safe is obviously not something that you want your personal style to be described as. So how can you change that? Well the best thing to do is accessorize. Accessorizing can be incredibly fun. There are endless possibilities and so many unique pieces you can add to make your outfit special. If you're looking for some crazy accessory ideas then I’m sorry to disappoint you but this post is all about the statement tie. A bold tie is enough to separate you from the word ‘safe’. Try a tie with any bold pattern such as my paisley piece from the new Bows-N-Ties collection or maybe go with a floral or colorful polka dot option. There are so many possibilities so just choose something that you find interesting. Keep in mind that a bold tie is not the same thing as a novelty tie so it’s probably best to stay away from any Mickey Mouse or Eiffel Tower printed ties. Check out Bows-N-Ties to search through their huge online selection of stylish and modern neckwear.
