Christmas Day in Black Watch Plaid Trousers

There’s no pattern more Christmasy than black watch plaid. Whether it comes in the form of trousers, a blazer or even a full suit the look is synonymous with Christmas time. I would go as far as saying that if you’re shopping for a Christmas look, you should start with something in black watch plaid. Sure this post might not help you now as Christmas 2016 is behind us but it’s good to know that black watch plaid can be incorporated into outfits well into January.

[Blazer & Pants] Zara [Vest] Tailor4Less [Tie] Profuomo [Watch] Daniel Wellington

When wearing black watch plaid after Christmas it's important to keep a few things in mind. First you'll want to make sure that the pattern is not screaming out at you. Try pairing it with other classic pieces such a a navy blazer or camel overcoat. Next tip is to not pair it with anything bright red. Deep burgundies are great but bright red will pop way to much and give off that christmas vibe. Yes I know red looks amazing with black watch plaid but trust me on this and save that pairing for next Christmas. Finally you'll want to stay away from anything Flannel. Flannel is a great material for winter but it gives off that warm cozy feeling that should only be felt during the holidays. Instead try out wools and cottons for a more appropriate post Christmas look. Thanks for reading!

His & Hers Christmas 2016 Gift Ideas

Got a girlfriend to shop for and have no idea where to start? Let me help with these budget friendly gift ideas. It’s winter so get her something that she can use immediately. She’ll be reminded of you every time she’s staying warm from your cute hat and scarf set. If she’s a makeup freak (they all are) then gift her one of the amazing lipsticks or nail polishes from Louboutin Beauty. The Fujiflim Instax is the cutest polaroid camera out there and she’ll be snapping pics left and right. Just don’t get her the mermaid tail blanket and you should be fine.

Buying gifts for a man can be a challenge. We don’t often hint at things we like so it's best to stick to the basics. Try finding pieces that you know he’ll use a lot rather than something that’s beautiful but will catch dust on the shelve. Beauty products such as cologne and hair pomades are always good and remember a guy can never have too many pairs of brown shoes. Wireless Headphones are becoming almost a necessity especially with the new iPhone 7 so get him a quality pair and I'm sure he'll love it.

Dapperly Done Overalls

[Overalls] Zara [Turtleneck] John Smedley [Coat] H&M [Sneakers] Clae [Gloves] Bottega Venetta [Bag] Alchimia

If you told me last year that I’d be wearing overalls I would of told you you’re crazy. But now my mindset has changed a bit. There was a time when I went shopping and I would only look at the suiting section but now I walk around and am willing to try on anything. I found these denim overalls, tried them on and sent a photo to a friend who discouraged me from getting them but I went with my gut and here I am wearing overalls for the first time since I can remember. I tried styling them with a shirt and tie but something was a bit off so I went with a turtleneck and camel overcoat. White kicks were of course and must and a cool camo tote from a local Milan designer finished off the look. So I probably won’t be wearing these overalls often but I’m happy to have them and will definitely have fun styling them again in the future.

5 Ways To Wear A Shearling Jacket

My personal favorite here has to be this look. It screams style and is obvious to see you put a lot of thought into your look. If this is something your interested in trying then it's important to purchase a jacket with a little extra room in it.

So you just love ties and always want to wear one. If you spend weekdays at the office then on days off try switching out your blazer for a shearling jacket. It'll feel good to try something new for a change.

This is the most popular look of the bunch. I probably don't go a day without seeing this on the streets. It's clean, easy and stylish. Wear this when meeting with friends or shopping to look uber cool.

The easiest look of them all. Wool trousers or dark denim with a crew neck or cable knit sweater and accessorize with warm weather pieces such as a scarf, gloves and knit hat.

For the street style lovers out there, make this your new go to. Dark shearling jacket, dark jeans and turtleneck. Have fun with accessories and make the look your own.

Shearling jackets are huge this year. I’ve seen them on the high streets, from luxury brands and everywhere in between. It makes sense because as with most clothing items from the 70’s they are now being reinvented for the modern gentlemen. Today most of them are cut slim to the body and end slightly below the waistline. These jackets look amazing when worn casually but if styled properly can be worn over a suit or blazer.

D For Daks Tops [Wednesday Menswear Terms]

daks tops (n) - elastic band around the waistband that’s fasted with buttons on the side enabling ones trousers to stay in place without a belt or braces

Today’s word is daks tops and unless you’re very familiar with bespoke suiting then this should be new to you. They are very similar to side straps in that they are adjustable around the waistband preventing your pants from falling down but daks tops are much less common. They have a elastic band that runs along the back side of your waistband and is buttoned on the sides. The elastic stretches to hug you perfectly and the buttons can often times be buttoned into one of two holes making the fit even more precise. This eliminates the need for a belt and will create that clean line look that I always preach about. If you’re looking for daks tops trousers in your department store than you’ll be out of luck. This feature is almost only found on bespoke pieces but if you’re already going throughout the process of bespoke then this is definitely something to consider.

Camo Shirt + Blue Knit Tie

[Blazer & Pants] Zara [Shirt] Neill Katter [Tie] Drakes [Pocket Square] Bottega Veneta

There are countless times I've worn camo and I’ve even shown you guys this shirt before but I never thought to style it with a tie. I always saved it for those hot summer days and rolled the sleeved up but this time I decided to try it out with a blazer and tie. The blue blazer and knit tie really balance out the boldness of the shirt making it actually look a little less eye catching. I wore it with a pair of houndstooth trousers made from the softest cotton out there. The material is so comfy I could actually sleep in them which makes them perfect for chilly fall days. Hope you like the look an as always thanks for reading.

Cable Knit Sweater Shopping Guide

Cable knit sweaters aren’t trendy, they aren’t modern and I would never say they are a statement piece yet they always seem to be popular.  In these colder months sweaters become my wardrobe work horse keeping me warm all day long and act as a layering piece that can easily be removed when needed. A cable knit sweater with a knitting stitch that resembles the twist of a cable is an option that I’ve been finding myself in more and more. They’re often in solid colors but because of the added detail they are much more interesting than a basic crew neck. See my favorites below to stock up before winter.

If it’s luxury pieces you’re looking for then look no further. These sweaters, made from the finest cashmeres and wools have a shocking sticker price but they’ll last a lifetime and you’ll feel like a million bucks every time you step out in one.

These may not have designer labels stitched into them but the quality is right up there with those over $500 pieces. Stay with these slightly less expensive options and you’ll get amazing quality at prices you might just be able to afford.

Want to get the look without going broke? Try out these pieces from Zara. Sure the quality might not match some of the other brands but if you take care of them they’ll definitely last you through the next few winters.
